David Shannon – Current GRDC southern panel chairman owns a property in SA & has recently purchased a property in Tassie due to climate change predictions.  Grazing operation with occasional spuds.     

Ian McKinnon – Largest wheat grower in Tassie & former GRDC sthn panel chair. 7,000 ac Dryland + Irrigation.      

Keith Pengilley – Agronomist, Irrigation Scheduling, Financial planning.      

Harvest Moon – Vegetables.  Forth & Cressy - Ex Sheep farm converted to 1000 ac of centre pivots under broadacre horticulture.  80 permanent employees up to 240 employees.     

Steve Crease – 1000ha irrigation 16 pivots Poppies & vegetables.  4-500ha spuds (planting in Sept), poppies, onions, ryegrass seed plus 18,000 xbred sheep + 1,800 cows.  Uses various business arrangements to achieve large area production.      

Tassal – Salmon Farm. Hatchery, sea farmer & processor.      

Spring Bay Seasfoods – Mussel & Scallop producers.  They have their own hatchery & export quality packing facility.  Have the most up to date growing facilities sources from around the world right down to a custom made boat.  Plan on being the largest mussel producers in Australia within 12 months.     

Woolnorth  Station – Equivalent to Windy Station in Tasmania.  Dairy, Sheep and cattle operation.     

Roberts Ltd Agronomists (TBC) – very respected supply company agronomists talking to us about various agricultural production systems.

Cascade Brewery Tour, Tourist/rest day in Launceston, comfortable 53 seat coach, optional return flight time/date.    

For those bored with farm visits we will also run optional tours (at an additional cost): Tour the highlights of:

1.  Launceston Tour.  Take in the pleasures of the delectable storybook Tamar Valley. Follow the tranquil yet spectacular Tamar River amongst vineyards, bird havens, elegant country houses, fruit orchards and fishing villages. Sample Tasmania’s fine wine, indulge at Grindelwald Swiss village (chocolate) and explore the historic village of Evandale, browsing antique galleries and art and craft shops. Tour includes coach travel and commentary. $65.00. (1.30pm - 5pm). 

2.  Port Arthur Tour. Cross Tasman Bridge, over Pitwater Causeway onto Forestier Peninsular. Travel through Pirates Bay, Eaglehawk Neck, Norfolk Bay. Take a guided walking tour of Port Arthur accessing over 30 buildings and ruins. Cruise Carnarvon Bay around the Isle of the Dead. Visit Tasman National Park, Tasman Arch, Devils Kitchen. Tour includes guided walking tour, cruise and admission to Port Arthur, no lunch included but is available on site. $95.00.  (9.15am - 5pm).
